F&M Bank provided $1 Million Commercial Real Estate Loan

Art Theater Loan • Long Beach, CA

Revitalization takes time coupled with a vision from business owners and a bank. Two passionate Long Beach residents had the vision to revive the last independent Long Beach theater in a neighborhood where 50 theaters had once competed.

This passion project started in 2008, in the midst of the Great Recession, when many banks were tightening lending policies. In the best of times an art theater is a challenging investment, but in 2008 it was one that nearly every bank avoided, especially with a loan amount of over $1 million.

F&M Bank recognized the passion the two borrowers had and provided them a loan despite the challenging economy. F&M and the borrowers worked together through a variety of economic challenges as the vision was for the Art Theatre of Long Beach to become the centerpiece of the 4th Street Retro-Row revival, which today, it truly has become.
