Mamie Yong Maywhort remembers the wrinkled table cloths as she was preparing for her foundation’s annual “Heroes’ Nite Out” event several years ago.
“I had several tables to set and didn’t know what to do, and that’s when someone from F&M stepped in to help steam and iron the table cloths,” said Maywhort, co-founder of Homefront America, a non- profit organization that supports military families. “F&M is like having a family member around who helps out.”
For Maywhort, having a banking partner that acts like a family member has proven helpful more than once, especially when running a non-profit with a grassroots budget. Maywhort recalls a Homefront chili cook-off event where a member of the F&M staff served as a cashier.
“That’s the kind of relationship we have with F&M,” she said. “Banking with F&M is like walking into ‘Cheers’ (the TV sitcom), where everyone knows your name.”
Homefront organizes several events a year, supporting families that face the rigors of military life. Maywhort acknowledges the myriad of banking choices available to her, but she values F&M’s commitment to supporting Homefront’s cause.
