Neighborhood Icon Since 1985 Plans Grand Re-Opening Event On Saturday, May 19th

SEAL BEACH, CA (MAY 2, 2018) - Farmers & Merchants Bank (F&M), one of the strongest commercial and retail banks in California, announced the Grand Re-Opening of its Rossmoor office following a branch transformation project.

Inspired by the evolution of The Shops at Rossmoor, F&M’s improvements were designed to complement the thriving commercial center. The building, which was originally built as a movie theater in the 1970s and later remodeled into a bank in 1980, was in dire need of updating. The transformation project began in 2014 as a simple remodel to present a new “sit down” banking format. As the project progressed, maximizing visibility into the branch became the driving force for the new design. Exterior improvements were incorporated to make the most of the repositioning of the building and opening the corner to the shopping center.

F&M Bank clients will now find a welcoming open layout with a redesigned teller line, allowing employees to promptly greet them upon arrival and invite them to sit down rather than have to stand in line. This new comfortable and relaxed setting allows the banker and client to engage more personally and privately discuss products and services one-on-one without the need to move to a private conference room. The Branch Manager’s desk is now prominently placed for convenient access, a tradition which dates back to 1907 when F&M Bank founder C.J. Walker was seated on the front line at the Main Office in Long Beach.

Throughout the facility, new local art celebrates the essence of the surrounding community. The exterior of the building features two iconic columns to emulate F&M’s first office, at 302 Pine Avenue in Long Beach, representing F&M’s historic values of Strong, Conservative, and Friendly.

Beyond the remodel of the building’s appearance, the branch has also upgraded its technology. New digital signage offers product recommendations and F&M History facts.

“This renovation continues F&M Bank’s over 30-year commitment to investment in Rossmoor” said Al Stone, Vice President and Relationship Manager at F&M Bank’s Rossmoor office. “This new design will allow us to provide a less formal environment where clients can experience that special ‘F&M touch’ that we have been providing continually, since 1907.”

During the design of the new branch, the old Draper’s & Damon’s retail building next door became available. Rather than renting out to a new tenant, the growth of F&M’s Home Loans group warranted a new office location. Similarly, the 2nd floor of the bank building was originally slated for future tenants, but with the rapid growth in F&M employees in recent years it was determined it would be best to create an “F&M campus” to complement the Bank and the Center. F&M now employs over 100 people in the local Rossmoor community.

“This redesign represents a wonderful blending of what we know clients prefer in a branch layout, combined with the clean and engaging architecture that Rossmoor is known for,” said Henry Walker, President of F&M Bank.

The completion of the Rossmoor renovation marks the third in a series of ventures F&M has to transform existing offices. The bank completed renovations at their Rolling Hills Estates office in 2015 and at their Fullerton office last year and hopes to implement the open layout in other offices.

“The Rossmoor location has a dedicated staff of on-site decision makers to help provide our clients with a trusted brand of handshake service that is consistent from branch-to-branch,” said Daniel Walker, Chairman of the Board and CEO of F&M Bank. “North Orange County residents can expect the same level of expert service, customizable solutions, and strong values that have made Farmers & Merchants Bank California’s strongest bank for 111 years.”

The grand re-opening block party event will offer a true taste of Rossmoor culture with live music from Knyght Ryder, a popular local 80’s tribute band, and lunch from local favorites Taco Surf and TK Burgers. Guests will also have an opportunity to enter a sweepstakes to win a $5,000 prize. This event is open to the public and will take place on Saturday, May 19, 2018 from 11am to 2pm in the F&M Bank Rossmoor parking lot at 12535 Seal Beach Blvd. For the F&M Bank Rossmoor office address and contact information, please visit
